1830's Berlin Work Picture for Emily Porter

Made by Maria Pott of Pottsville, Pa., this needlework picture would have been made in the mid to late 1830s as a gift presented to Emily Porter. Emily was married in November of 1840 to James H. Ferre of Agawam, MA so we know that this piece would have been made for here before her marriage.

Depicted are a boy and girl in a garden setting. The young girl is kneeling in front of a garden bench with a rabbit in front of her. Quite romantic and charming and typical of the period.

Measures approximately 9.5" by 11.5" with a frame measurement of 12.25" by 14.25".
