Turkey Red "Double Irish Chain Quilt"
Circa 1880s

Beautiful quilted wreaths enhance this bold Irish Chain quilt. The fabrics appear to be hand dyed in turkey red and green which has softened and faded over time. The fabrics are all sturdy and show no signs of wear other that 16" of the binding that is almost completely gone from one corner. There are several minor stains and aging that are normal in quilts from this period. Nothing that detracts from the beauty of this quilt. Homespun muslin backing.

Quilted with 8 - 10 stitches per inch.

Measures 64" by 77".
