Ivory rayon crepe has been embellished with machine stitched pattern of bows on this charming 1930s box cape. The Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion defines a box cape as being straight cut, elbow- or hip-length with broad padded shoulders and a square silhouette and this cape meets all of the criteria. It closes with a single button at the neckline and has a modified wing collar with pink silk roses stitched on the left side. It is fully lined in rayon taffeta and bears only a National Recovery Board label. The overall condition is excellent and other than slight darkening inside the collar appears to have been unworn. The silk flowers could be steamed to freshen them after having been flattened in storage for years, otherwise presentable and ready to wear!
