This is a fine antique shawl that probably originates from England (Norwich) or Scotland. Measuring 62" by 65" this striped Victorian era shawl is in wonderful condition! Made of wool with gold silk thread woven into the patterned stripes. The twill stripes are in bright primary colors of red, blue, yellow and green with the addition of black and white. The effect is dazzling! Very tightly woven with a few loose threads on the patterned stripes.
There is some slight staining in one area that is visible in the photos but is very light and does not detract. One hole the size of a nickel is circled in the photos and could be easily mended. Other than that, there are some tiny pin sized holes that are not readily apparent unless held to the light, but mentioned for accuracy. The fringe measures 4" long. It's multicolored on two sides and white on the other two sides.
