A stunning hand-embroidered Canton shawl on a rare Imperial yellow silk ground. The embroidery is worked by hand in silk thread depicting peacocks, pagodas, swans, animals, birds, butterflies and flowers. Each corner bears a pastoral scene with baskets of flowers above, two bearing peacocks and two with pheasants. There are even grasshoppers perched delicately on the handles of the baskets with the peacocks!

The work is exquisitely executed and the shawl is in excellent condition. A more stunning shawl you will not find!

Measures 64" square with a wide heavy macrame fringe on all sides.
