This delightful Victorian bonnet dating to the 1880s is made of woven straw and artfully trimmed with rich brown silk and velvet ribbons, sprays of ivy and a feather panache. The interior is lined in polished black cotton with a label that reads, Walker, Tremont Street, Boston.
Similar in style to the bonnet featured in this scan from the May 1886 issue of The Delineator.
Condition is excellent with no chips or breaks in the straw. No rips, holes or repairs to the silk or velvet ribbons or ivy decoration. One or two or the feather wisps are broken but this in no way detracts from the bonnet.
