This scan describes the Victorian Ladies' Straw Bonnet illustrated in Figure No. 2 as "Fine straw of a deep yellow tint . . . and because of its beauty of color and weave it is but little hidden. The shape is comfortable as well as becoming, and as it fits the head rather closely, no facing is needed. Just in front is a cluster of white roses, while mingled with them are fine ferns. At the back is a decoration made of loops of pale-green ribbon, each lapping just over the next until the edge is reached, when the ribbon flares and forms the ties. These ties are short and tied under the chin in a small bow with short ends."
