1850s Wool Print Quilted Petticoat with Calico Lining

Made of two charming prints, this 1850s petticoat is entirely hand made and quilted. The exterior is a floral striped wool challis in tones of beige, brown and green. The interior lining which sandwiches a layer of batting for warmth is a cotton print in madder browns and black on white. The waistband is original and closes in the back with ties.

Condition is outstanding with minimal wear in the way of one or two thin spots on the challis. These are normal wear and not a sign of dry rot or other weakness of the fabric. Otherwise quite presentable and a wonderful country piece.
