Children's dresses of this era were made originally with the growth of a child in mind. So that a child could continue to wear the garment as they grew taller, extra fabric was left at the waistline so that the dress could be lengthened. I'm not sure that you will be able to see this, but in photos five and seven you may see two sets of horizontal lines above and below the waist band. These would indicate that this dress was lengthened twice for the child who originally wore it, probably extending its wear from a few months to as much as a year. The fabrics are a simple white cotton with a woven twill stripe and a border print of roses that was used for the waist band, neckline, cuffs and to trim the hemline.
The overall condition is very good with no rips, holes or repairs. There are a couple of very small spots near the hemline which you can see in the first and fifth photos. Otherwise very good!
