First Edition 1906 A Child's Book of the Garden: The Things in Our Garden by Arthur Ransome
This rare Nature Book for Children A Child's Book of the Garden: The Things in Our Garden, is one of three books written by Arthur Ransome and published in 1906 in London for Anthony Treherne & Company, Ltd. 96 pages.
This was the second in what was intended to be a 6 book series however Treherne went bankrupt after the third was published. The title on the cover of the book is A Child's Book of the Garden however it is better known as The Things in Our Garden. Illustrated by Frances Craine. Not including the illustration on the cover there are 9 full color illustrations in this charming book.
As you can see the volume is not without wear. The cover does have a faint water stain as you can see as well as corner and edge wear. A pressed flower resides between pages 22 and 23. There are five pages that also have edge wear, appearing as though they have been chewed. These are pages 29/30, 31/32, 59/60, 61/62 and 63/64. In addition I noticed a tiny edge tear on pages 82 through 88 which includes two illustrations. These are very small and can just be seen on the right side of the last illustration pictured, it is about half way down the right side. The binding is tight with no loose pages. General foxing throughout.
