1960s Hand-Woven Wool Coat By Sybil Connolly

In the late 1950s Sybil Connolly established her own design firm and quickly gained attention for her use of traditional textiles in unusual ways. She helped to popularize hand-woven woolens, tweeds and mohair as fashion fabrics and her designs were worn but people such as first lady Jackie Kennedy.

This coat and matching scarf are made of one of the beautiful hand-woven woolens. Woven in a large herringbone pattern that is used vertically to elongate the silhouette. The coat itself is collarless but the substantial scarf keeps the cold at bay on the most wintry day. Front buttoning and fully lined with side seam pockets.

Overall condition is very good to excellent with the only noted flaw being a few small holes within the lining.
