1920s Lamé and Fur Child's Bonnet
A rare find! This period child's hat from the 1920s is as elaborate as any mother might have worn. The peach silk fabric is woven with floral sprigs and a lattice pattern of metallic thread. The hat is further trimmed with silver metallic lace and dark mink, then edged with delicate floral hand made lace which is also used as a chin strap to keep the hat from falling off. It snaps to one side. On the side near the crown is a spray of grosgrain ribbon flowers in colors to match the brocade. The perfect finishing touch.
Overall condition is very good however there is a small patch of the mink trim that is missing on the back left that measures about an inch in length. The lining is intact though slightly soiled with no noted shattering or deterioration. You can see where there was a label stitched to the lining but just a corner remains so the exact origin of the hat shall remain a mystery.
Measures approximately 22" in circumference.
